There aren't any dunes at Sitges I don't know where that pic was taken but there are mostly pebble beaches in that coastline (there is a stretch of sand past the last hotel to the west in front of the gold course but it is thin, dirty and no one uses it because there are groomed beaches just next to it and there is a storm drain/sewage overflow that empties right there too. Then, past the first ruined disco/bar/resto isa the path over the limestone cliffs to the playa d'el muerto, and two smallish beaches before, on beore the train tunnel and the other after. Thse mostly dsappear at high tide and have scattered groups of 2 to 10 people and the walk down is vertiginous and dangerous, flip flops are a definite no go for this areaif you slip here and even on he outer path around the first cape after the resort is behind you can slip and the fall is nearly straight down. That said it is relentlessly gorgeous maquis and limestone semi arid parkland and the sea is azure the sky cerulian and the smell of pine, juniper, bay and thyme lingers under foot and in the air. You can walk along the train tracks with the caveat that the trains move very fast you have seconds sometimes between hearing them and them bearing down, you must walk all the way to the far side of the gravle either side of teh track cause the trains will reach out nearly to the edge depending on which run which model and 5 to 9 minute intervals is not an uncommon thing.
Where the cliff comes to the track and prevents passage, move it fast and furious. DO not try and go in the tunnel. I saw two women nearly get killed as tehy ran back out after going in and were knocked down by the wind from the train but not struck a second or two more and they would have been dead. You can take the goat path on the cliffside above the beach, the treacherous over tunnel massif, or where there's a path in the phragmites before the tunnel you can hop in there and find a wooded path all the way to the wide road almost that cuts perpendicular to the path and carries you out to the main beach in relative ease. There is also a storm drain tunnel a bit before that is a fun and sometimes fillled with seafoam alternative. The path from the outer perimeter can bring you up here. This whole beach is what we would call dunes in more prudish areas and in early and late season it is a full on affair nice men and more nice hguys and lots of friendly oopen interaction. The woods behind the beach are every kind of shenanigans and wkring it out is group singels tented visitors bike riders and eveyrthing in between. Surf can be very dangerous is the beach of the dead for a reason. Attencion a la Medusa (there are a few jellies that sting at this beach moreso than the othes I went to). There were of my visit no amenities between teh hotel and the beach of the dead, it is 35 to 40 degrees in exposed open landscape, you will take 1.5 to 3 hours to get there and get back, 2l of wqater per person minimum, gatorage, a long sleeve very thin shirt and or a parasol, UV sunscreen, bandaids, gatoraid, advil and allergy meds wouldnt be a bad idea. Food drink bring it in pack it out dont leave anything on the beach except your dignity,. Mine might be there still.
