Return to DiscussionsWell it's true it's best not to label folxs but remember some of us like the identies we have and for some men the idea of defining the gay and straight man bond is what is sought. For me its always to prove he can see my attraction but know it's never going to cross a line as I respect him. In turn he gets to not be worried a gay dude will hit on him or make a situation bad. He now has a male friend who can bounce in mixed settings and one who will make meeting women easier.
I agree the categories should be meaningless and ir is just us men. But this bond is specific and addesses deep anxieties in both men. Anxieties they need to clear to go to that place you are talking about. Also some guys do want to explore mansex and choose an expert instead of a novice they just need to feel safe and ready. I have been asked by more than half my straight buds over the years and I always oblige at least once.
Lots of us need help to bond and the more we bond with others the more male bonding is normalized. I think that's beautiful.
