It's the best way to kayak if the circumstances allow. I can only shed the suit once underway and then give swimmers and watercraft a generous berth. At least I think I do, without my glasses I may underestimate what they can see!

I have a "sit in" kayak versus a "sit on" kayak. Being lower allows me to be naked and not have anyone be able to tell.

Even the sit-on kayak is relatively discrete. When wearing my swimsuit (usually 1" sides or less) the waistband is barely above the side of the boat so would be hard to see. From front-on, only a direct view would reveal a difference. If I was wearing shorts I'd expect them to be more obvious, but between swimsuit and nude, it's quite subtle. My occasional flouting of lifevest regulations would be way more obvious! :-)
